The records you find here, pertain to people who are related to Johann Gottlieb Hintz either through familial ties or were associated with him by living in the same geographic areas where he and his descendants lived. Without the help and generosity of others who had information about my Hintz relatives and their associates I could not have made this website. Thank-you to my aunt, Loretta Schleif nee Rippe and my friend, Patsy Scheer.

Census Records
Generation 1
The generation number represents the first generation of my Hintz ancestors, who immigrated to America. Johann Gottlob Hinze is the earliest person documented in my direct Hintz / Hinze line. The initial work in the census records began in reverse chronological order from what is reported here. The work proceeded backwards to each earlier generation. Generation 1 has only my g-g-g grandfather, Johann Gottlob Hinze.
Johann Gottlob Hinze / Hint and Anna Regine Matzke
Johann and Regina Hintz nee Matzke came to America from Doelitz, Germany in about 1856, so the first U.S. Census would be the 1860 census. Both died before 1900 so there are only three U.S. Census records that will list their household. They are shown below.
Generation 2
Generation 2 shows each of Johann G. Hintz' children and their families.
Christian Friedrich Hintz and Charlotte Noll
Christian F. Hintz also came to America from Doelitz, Germany in about 1856 with his parents, Johann and Regina Hintz nee Matzke. Again, the first U.S. Census to list him would be the 1860 census. He died in 1923 so the last U.S. Census to list him is the 1920 census. All available U.S. Census records showing him are listed below.
Friedrich W. Hintz and Christina Schwenk
F. William Hintz also came to America from Doelitz, Germany in about 1856 with his parents, Johann and Regina Hintz nee Matzke. Again, the first U.S. Census to list him would be the 1860 census. He died in 1916 so the last U.S. Census to list him is the 1910 census. All available U.S. Census records showing him are listed below.
Hanna Louise Hintz and August Giese
Hanna Louise Hintz also came to America from Doelitz, Germany in about 1856 with his parents, Johann and Regina Hintz nee Matzke. Again, the first U.S. Census to list her is the 1860 census. Information received from another family researcher suggests that she married August Giese. They remained in Green County, Wisconsin until their deaths. He preceded her in death on 15 June 1898 and she died in 01 December 1914. The last U.S. Census listing her is the 1910 census. All available U.S. Census records showing him are listed below.
Johann Friedrich Hintz and Anna Maria Matzke
Johann Friedrich Hintz also came to America from Doelitz, Germany in about 1856 with his parents, Johann and Regina Hintz nee Matzke. He is listed in their 1860 household. The first U.S. Census to list him is the 1860 census. He died in 12 November 1911. The last U.S. Census listing her is the 1910 census. Additional census records showing his wife include the 1920 and 1930 censuses since she lived until 27 June 1936. All available U.S. Census records showing him are listed below.
Wilhelmine "Mina" Hintz and David Ziettlow
She is listed in her parents household in 1860 and 1870. No information has been found to document her death. All available U.S. Census records showing him are listed below.
Generation 3
At this time I have presented only the census records for my direct line ancestors for this generation. William Friedrich Hintz and Hedwig Anna Korht were my g-grandparents. As time permits I may add census records for the children of Generation 2.
William Frederick Hintz and Hedwig Kohrt

Most of the funeral cards exhibited on this website were from Olga Schroeder's family paper. Her daughter, Lynette McCoy graciously shared these with me so they could be posted to the website for others, who are interested in Hintz genealogy.
