This was once the estate of the Earl of Schaumburg, who was the overseer for this region. The village of Rolfshagen is located in Schaumburg-Lippe. It is likely that my ancestors may have had to pay taxes to the Earl of Schaumburg and may have had to do favors for him as did all residents in the early German villages.
